A chance is taken with Guildenstern, who takes the eye over Avoca Dancer, Bessemer and Bentley. The last named has held his form well and, having proved himself over the trip last time out, he is very much respected. Bessemer is a previous course and distance winner that is as wily as they come. He can be hard to win with, but is overdue a change of fortune and would be dangerous to rule out. Avoca Dancer is another that takes his racing well and has paid his way in win-and-place money this term. A mark of 57 is hardly restrictive for a race of this nature and he holds a solid each-way chance. However, Guildenstern, who is on a very attractive mark, gets the vote after an encouraging effort 17 days ago. The Paul Howling-trained gelding appears best suited by seven furlongs these days and, from a rating 22lb lower than his best winning mark, Guildenstern has a great chance to get back to winning ways today.
