In a race that will not take much winning, Desert Lightning gets the vote ahead of Adrian McGuinness's Speagle. Newcomer History Prize wouldn't have to be a world-beater to make a winning start to his career, but judging by the level he has been entered at he can be no great shakes at home. The selection has been running consistently in similar contests and a repeat of those performances could be enough to take home the prize money today. Irish raider Speagle has some fair form back in Ireland in slightly better races and so it can be assumed that he will not be travelling over for nothing, although his last visit to the course ended in defeat and therefore he is passed over in favour of the selection. Of the rest, Second Reef would have a chance on his best form, as would Crush On You. However, in what isn't a strong race, Desert Lightning gets the nod.
