        Verdict

        Course winner Lake Pontchartrain gets the vote here ahead of Ian Semple's Chookie Hamilton, in what looks a pretty desperate contest. The selection appreciated the step up to seven furlongs when winning last time out, and should have no problems with this further step up today. Sylvester Kirk doesn't send many out at this time of year and so it can be assumed that he expects the course winner to go close today. Ian Semple has a good record with his two-year-olds at the track and his runner Chookie Hamilton could go well if reproducing his Musselburgh run last time out, however this trip could be the stretching his stamina too far and so he is passed over. The rest appear to be a very average bunch, although Generist would have a squeak on his best form. For the winner then we return to Lake Pontchartrain to add to his recent course success.
