A reasonably competitive claimer here and with his impressive course record, especially in this type of contest, we will side with DESPERATE DAN to get the better of Obe Gold, Godfrey Street and Swinbrook. The selection has won six times over course and distance, those split equally between claimers and sellers, and was not far away in a handicap here last time. The return to this grade plus a plumb inside draw and a good chance at the weights mark him out as the one to be on again tonight. Obe Gold is 4lbs worse off with the selection than if this were a handicap and also has to contend with a wide draw. He has the ability to get heavily involved if the breaks come his way, but there look better options. Godfrey Street is also out in stall 11 and meets the pick on the same terms as in a handicap. He goes well here, although he has never won at the track, and there are enough concerns for us to take him on. Ron Harris-trained Swinbrook was a beaten favourite in a 6f seller here last time, and his best form away from turf is at Southwell, so he can be opposed given this shorter trip is not ideal. Fault doesn't have a bad draw for his first run here and as a minimum trip specialist we could see him getting very competitive, but the one we will put up here is Desperate Dan.
