Showdance Kid’s earlier double included a course and distance success while Caledonia Laird won here in May but remains 4lb higher. Grey Destiny was beaten only a head at Newcastle a week ago and the less-exposed Counter Spirit was only a neck behind the winner when third over track and trip recently. The latter should make a bold bid but FIELDSMAN should fare better dropping down into this lowly grade having placed at Newmarket on his penultimate start and he gets the nod racing off a 3lb lower mark today.
