Larad was most impressive when landing a similar event to this here last month and is taken to follow up, at the expense of Smart scot and Now And Again. The selection had dropped to a lenient mark and that proved decisive as he won with a bit more in hand than the official distance. Although he has scored on turf, he does seem to be a better horse on this surface. Smart Scot was well beaten over the seven furlong trip here but his previous effort over nine furlongs was most promising as he finished just three lengths behind Temper Tantrum. A repeat of that effort should see him involved in the finish. Now And Again finished third to Compton Micky here following a long lay off and should also be capable going close in this company. Esperance is from a shrewd yard and any market support could be significant, but Larad does have the best recent form and gets the vote
