In depth

Verdict

Hasty Retreat and Funseeker look the two to concentrate on here and the vote goes to the the former. Ed Dunlop's nicely-bred son of King's Best was a good third on debut behind a couple of nice sorts and the drop in trip today is not expected to cause any problems, and with nominal improvement he looks worth siding with. A visor is slapped on Melwood Dreams, and whilst it may have some effect he really has had enough chances to put the best hoof forward already. Newcomers My Mate Max and Liberty Valance both need respect, with the last-named a more likely sort on breeding although he may need further in time. Ros Cuire is an interesting Irish challenger but hasn't shown a lot to date, including when tried at Wolverhampton last time. Weet By Far drops back into maiden company, whilst Funseeker also does. He drops in trip which looks a good move and he looks the main danger. Hasty Retreat is the one we return to as the selection.
