raced in 3rd on inside, pushed along over 2f out, soon unable to quicken, ridden and weakened turning in
wore hood to post, made all, set steady pace until quickened halfway, 2 lengths ahead inside final 2f, carried head high and driven inside final furlong, always doing enough, unchallenged
tracked winner throughout, pushed along over 2f out, came wide in home straight, stayed on under pressure inside furlong, never able to challenge
Dark Pine easily won here in February and also scored at Chester in the summer. He reappeared here on Boxing Day with a fine run in a Class 2 handicap but has 10lb to find on official ratings with FOX TAL. Andrew Balding's charge has never raced on this surface but has been placed several times at Group and Listed level and looks the one to beat. Kenzai Warrior is another making his debut on the surface but won a Class 2 handicap at Kempton in September. He's unproven over the trip but a small field could play to his strengths.
