Canford Bay is upped in class off a higher mark after scoring over track and trip last month. The front-runner Acclaim The Nation came up short at this level last time having made all in a lower grade contest at Chelmsford before that but Royal Birth is effective at this level and finished in front of Watchable when runner-up in a conditions' race at Newcastle earlier. STREET PARADE will be sharper for a recent outing at Chelmsford having undergone wind surgery at the end of last season. A winner off a higher mark in this grade at Windsor last year, he may prove good enough today with Stuart Williams’ yard in such good form.
Royal Birth 18-1 (9-0) Held up and behind, pushed along over 2f out, came wide straight, never dangerous, last of 7, 6 1/4l behind Good Effort (9-0) at Lingfield 6f lst stks (1) pol in Feb.
Watchable 8-1 (9-0) Tracked winner, pushed along 2f out, weakened final furlong, last of 7, 7 1/2l behind Good Effort (9-0) at Newcastle 5f stks (2) pol in Jan.
Street Parade 10-1 (8-13) Slowly into stride, held up, pushed along over 2f out, ran on final 75 yards, never on terms, 5th of 7, 3l behind Tawny Port (8-12) at Chelmsford City 5f hcp (2) pol in Jan.
Acclaim The Nation (IRE) 4-1 (8-5) Led, ridden and headed over 1f out, still every chance inside final furlong, not quicken close home, 4th of 8, 1 3/4l behind Lomu (8-3) at Wolverhampton 5f hcp (2) pol in Dec.
Canford Bay (IRE) 5-2fav (9-1) Keen tracked leaders, wide and headway approaching final furlong, ridden to lead inside final furlong, ran on, won at Wolverhampton 5f hcp (4) pol in Jan beating Foxy Forever (9-1) by 1l, 11 ran.
