Verdict

Sycamore went up 5lb for landing a Class 5 Southwell handicap but is still 4lb out of the handicap. Stablemate Crackling was well beaten from this mark at Newcastle on Friday while Fox Power, who won a Listed contest in 2019, ran poorly when last seen at Nottingham in October and has changed stables. Headingley won a Class 4 handicap at Chelmsford in November and his recent runs have been at a higher level than this. He looks the main threat to HAFEET ALAIN, a triple winner in the UK before heading to Hong Kong where he flopped. He's gradually returned to form and his latest runs here and at Kempton put him in the driving seat.
