Vanbrugh had shown little in maiden company but proved a revelation on his handicap debut when handing out an eight-length thrashing over a mile at Southwell last week. The son of Starborough scored with any amount in hand and should have no difficulty with the extra distance so will prove hard to beat ubnder a mere 6lb penalty. Prince Ivor was disappointing on his all-weather bow at Lingfield last month but has been dropped 5lb so should make more of an impact. Downtherefordancin has been well beaten in seleers and claimers of late but may reach a place off a low mark while Maunby Rocker looks high in the weights but will be suited by the step up in trip.
