Verdict

COME ON BUCKERS gets the nod in a tricky sprint handicap where Optical Illusion, Bold Ring and Titus Gent are also respected. The last named won on good to soft ground at Thirsk in August but struggled to make an impact in his last two starts. He had a legitimate excuse (bumped near the finish) at Redcar and, from a 1lb lower mark; he could easily bounce back at this level. Bold Ring was behind the selection when they met at Kempton last month and has a bit to find on a literal reading of that form. However, she has been in good heart since and is entitled to get closer this time around. Optical Illusion is a consistent type and, having won at Hamilton during the summer, he does know what to do when he gets his head in front. However, he also has a habit of throwing in the towel and would never be one for maximum confidence. Come On Buckers, on the other hand, loves nothing more than a battle and we can expect him to be very hard to peg back if he gets another flyer from the gates today.
