In depth

Verdict

Baileys Applause, Beverley Beau and Edged In Gold are the three for the shortlist in this handicap and the vote is given to Baileys Applause. The selection put up a good effort in a handicap at Newmarket last time when not beaten far behind Orpen Wide. She had gone close to getting her head in front on her previous three runs and she looks a filly to stay on the right side of at present. Beverley Beau was a little disappointing at Redcar last time but he had previously gone close when a good second behind Phantom Song at Catterick and on the basis of that effort he has to be considered today. Edged In Gold is lightly-raced and although she looks to have a little to find with our selection, she has shown enough to suggest that she has a realistic chance of claiming a place today. Golband is from a top yard and is another that could go well at a price, but we will stick with Baileys Applause who looks the one to beat.
