Merrymaker is set to go up 3lbs in the handicap from tomorrow after an improved display at Newmarket last time and Mark Brisbourne's gelding has to be respected but he may have been flattered in a slowly run race that day so preference is for Mikao, who gets the vote ahead of Millennium Hall. The last mentioned has been holding his form well of late but would probably prefer a softer surface to show his best form and Peter Monteith's gelding is probably best watched. Richard Fahey's Sualda showed signs of a return to form when chasing home Tedstale at Thirsk and has claims on that evidence, while Emile Zola is gradually dropping to a fair mark. Count Boris is also coming back down in the weights and is another to consider but the vote goes to Mikao. The Mark Tompkins-trained gelding has done little wrong in two starts this term since winning at Windsor in October, goes on a fast surface and represents a stable and jockey combination in good form.
