        Verdict

        Though failing to win last year, Alfred Boucher isn’t getting much help from the handicapper but he ran well on his reappearance in the City And Suburban at Epsom so has to go on the shortlist. High Commissioner led for a long way over 1m4f at Newmarket but is now 0-12 on Turf so looks worth opposing again. Luigi Vampa only beat one home at York after winning here last month while Arctic Vega was a disappointing favourite at Chelmsford and Fantasy Believer is another who has never won on this surface. FAISAL won at Lingfield and Wolverhampton last year but there is reason to believe that he won’t handle Turf. Soft going wouldn’t be ideal but he may still extend his unbeaten record ahead of Doncaster runner-up Wait Forever.
