In depth

Verdict

A high draw can often be advantageous so horses such as Ashdown Express, Hoh Hoh Hoh and Beaver Patrol must be afforded respect, however Mac Gille Eoin looks to be going the right way as a four year old and he can land the pot. A recent winner at Epsom, the form looks fairly solid with the runner-up a useful yardstick. A 7lb rise in the weights makes life tougher but he acts on this quick ground and should give it a good go. Raptor has been running consistently well of late, and his overall form and his way of racing suggests that this drop in trip in a large field could be ideal. Conquest needs respect for an in-form stable, whilst the same applies to Siren's Gift who has plenty of natural speed and if they can eke it out now returned to six furlongs then would have every chance. Beaver Patrol ran a blinder recently in the Wokingham and rates as the main danger; he could be hard to beat if reproducing that run, as he raced on the wrong side in the end. Recent Ascot fourth Knot In Wood must also enter calculations as he looks fairly handicapped at present. Judd Street and Nota Bene are both course and distance winners, but both need to bounce back from recent disappointments, whilst Ashdown Express is getting on but showed that he is still enthusiastic when third recently at Salisbury on his reappearance. Ceremonial Jade, Orpsie Boy and Hitchens add more spice to the mix, however it is Mac Gille Eoin who gets the nod.
