In depth

Verdict

It was soft going when Newton Jack scored over 7f at Salisbury with James Park Woods behind but he has something to prove over today’s trip. Mabre finished closer in testing ground at Thirsk last time while MAYKIR has won three times at Southwell since scoring over course and distance last year. A runner-up at the latter track recently, he should go close off his current mark. Carp Kid has slipped down the weights and has a chance on last year’s placed efforts here.
