In depth

Verdict

Red Rocks is taken to make a winning comeback over the fitter Katchit, with Cabourg, New Guinea and Soulard worth a mention at least. Once again there is plenty of untapped talent on view, but Red Rocks improved with each outing as a juvenile and can get off the mark now. Brian Meehan's colt dead-heated for second behind the useful Achill Bay in Newmarket's Houghton Conditions Stakes last backend and has an entry in the Dante. He should make experience count here, with race-fit Katchit, second on the all-weather at Lingfield last time, perhaps the one to give him most to do. Cabourg should appreciate the step up in trip on his return to the fray but has more on his plate, and bigger dangers may be the likes of New Guinea and Soulard whose respective stables have started the Turf campaign well. Sir Michael Stoute is double-handed with Duty and Scrummage so watch the market, but none make as much appeal as Red Rocks who can deservedly lose his maiden tag.
