In depth

Verdict

An open-looking affair which will probably be reflected in the betting. Joe Packet made a promising reappearance at Goodwood so goes on the short-list but fellow course and distance winner LINKS DRIVE LADY gets a speculative vote eased in grade. Dean Ivory's mare ran well here in April off a 2lb higher mark and recent rain is very much in her favour. Long Awaited hasn't been beaten far in any of his last three runs but hasn't won since 2012 but Upstaging was disappointing here last month while Under Siege turned in a shocker when favourite at Chelmsford. Fingal's Cave looks in the handicapper's grip but Burning Thread and Fever Few represent yards in cracking form and are not to be ignored.
