Aegean Prince is selected to land this for the Richard Hannon yard however, Valrhona is going to prove a very tough opponent for Aegean Prince to overcome. The selection could never land a blow in a Sandown contest won by the well-handicapped Punjabi, the second scoring at Goodwood on Friday evening. The 10 furlong trip on this easier course should suit. Valrhona is the least exposed in the line up, having just the five outings to date, two of those this season. His sole victory came over 12 furlongs on his final start last season. It is best to excuse his last effort at Ascot as the mile was on the sharp and he was staying on again in the closing stages; the second from the contest has subsequently scored. Ryedale Ovation, formerly trained by Tim Easterby, returned to form with a second placing at Chepstow last time, when outstayed in the later stages by Celticello. He is attractively weighted on the best of his form and is another contender. Roodolph possibly was not suited up the stiff climb at Beverley and will be more at home on a less undulating track while Royal Jasra is worth keeping an eye on with future handicaps in mind. Aegean Prince gets the vote.
