In depth

Verdict

Deeper In Debt can complete a hat-trick at the expense of Willhego, Keshya and Littleton Telchar, with Kindlelight Debut worth a mention at least. This is an open-looking affair, but Deeper In Debt could not line up in better form and can get the better of his younger rivals here. The John Akehurst-trained seven-year-old visited the winner's enclosure for the first time in two years when scoring at Yarmouth in August, and then showed that to be no fluke when defying a five-pound rise at Goodwood last month. The one worry would be the ground, but if it dries up that will increase the chances of the gelding who is on a decent handicap mark at present. Willhego made the most of a good draw when successful at Warwick last time and is a threat in this sort of grade, as is Keshya who put in an eye-catching run here last time, missing the break before coming through to go down by a short-head to Gone Fishing. She can be considered a winner without a penalty and is worth considering along with Littleton Telchar who has the assistance of Frankie Dettori, and Kindlelight Debut, third in a competitive handicap at Newcastle last week. Plenty in with chances then, and we return to Deeper In Debt as the pick of the bunch.
