The know-how of Genre might prove too much here for the potential of the likes of Shariki and Skit, with Tumbleweed Glory best of the others to have raced. Genre has had five outings already, including when beaten in a photo by Youmzain at Goodwood at the end of last month. Richard Hannon's colt was subsequently taken off his feet in a hot nursery on fast ground at Doncaster last time, and the return to maiden company will help him to open his account, with conditions much more in his favour. Mind you, he is no good thing with Godolphin unleashing Shariki who could be anything in time. The son of Spectrum holds an entry in next year's Vodafone Derby and has reportedly been working well at home on the Limekilns. Skit holds no fancy entries, having already been gelded, but hails from an in-form stable, while of the more exposed animals, Tumbleweed Glory is worth noting. She ran well for a long way at Leicester before being eased when beaten and with a furlong more to travel, could be in the shake-up. Karlani is another Derby entry, and on the evidence of his quiet Yarmouth bow, is one for next year, and for now we prefer the claims of Genre.
