Verdict

On what he has actually achieved a mark of 90 looks tough for Aerodynamic so he is passed over in favour of CENTIGRADE and Lay Claim, with narrow preference for the first-named. The selection looked like hot stuff when following up a Warwick maiden win with a solid Ayr performance. Fitness has to be taken on trust as he makes his seasonal reappearance however he looks a progressive gelding who could easily be much better than his new rating of 89. Constant Contact lost out by the (second) narrowest of margins at Epsom in October and he is a player despite a 2lb rise in the weights, Al Farahidi flopped at Yarmouth but cannot be written off just yet, whilst Invincible Soul was too keen after slow start on his reappearance at Sandown but will be all the better for the run. Colonel Carter won a maiden at Newbury that has traditionally churned out some good horses so he is respected on his handicap debut, as is Lay Claim with both horses likely to appreciate the quick ground conditions. Desert Creek won this race last year for Sir Michael Stoute so it would be wise to pay his runner close attention. A terrific handicap, with the tentative vote going to Centigrade.
