Verdict

Top weight Cape Town won a soft conditions race at Newbury last time and has more on his plate in this valuable handicap and may have to settle for a minor role against Island Light, who gets the verdict over Bonecrusher. The last mentioned represents the stable of David Loder that has had great success with their older horses and he could be interesting on his first run in this country for current connections. However, Island Light looked a future winner when chasing home Tough Love at Pontefract in April and, off just a 2lb higher mark today, he is the one they all have to beat. Nadour Al Bahr has run well on both outings this term and has to be respected along with Goblet Of Fire, who finished second in the Rosebery at Kempton when last seen. Perfect Storm has yet to prove that he stays this trip while Johannian may need his first outing of the season on his debut for Ian Wood, having formerly been with Michael Jarvis.
