Somerset Jem is 17lb higher than when winning this in a canter last season and has been chasing but he's likely to have been prepared for another crack so shouldn't be discounted. Amantius won a couple of minor handicaps before finding this grade too tough from his revised mark while Arden Denis has twice been a beaten favourite from this mark after a very long absence since an easy novice victory at Uttoxeter. Denny Kerrell has yet to win though did get a bit closer at Lingfield but an open contest can go to PERIQUEST. Alex Hales' charge won a handicap in this grade just over a year ago at Huntingdon and was having his first subsequent start in a better race than this at Uttoxeter on New Year's Eve where he ran well for a long way.
