In depth

Verdict

Mauna Key easily won two Class 5 handicaps in December but never got going from 14lb higher at Plumpton. Ruby Yeats didn't appear to stay 3m1f in that latter race after looking a threat at this trip but Soulsaver ran well on his reappearance at Hereford in November despite beaten 10 lengths in second. SOUTHFIELD TORR looked a likely future winner when twice runner-up in novice company at Taunton and can't have been right on his handicap debut here on Boxing Day. He was beaten narrowly by Demon Fou off levels in the first of those races and will be 12lb better off with his rider's claim taken into consideration so gets a speculative vote in a tricky finale.
