DEVILS BIT and Luddenmore have met twice with differing results and the former looks to have enough scope to take this. He finished behind his rival when they were beaten by subsequent winner Ainm Spartacus at Gowran in November but appeared to have made the better progress when runner-up to Rigidity on the same track last month with Ned Mitchell's charge only fifth, though he did make a bad mistake at the last. Knight Eagle was a long way behind in that event but that can't have been his true form as he had run a tremendous race on his previous start behind Plan A, also at Gowran. Longliner, a winner at Goodwood for Sir Michael Stoute, was having only his second run for Paul Nolan when catching the eye at Naas and would be a major threat if the ground dried out.
