Wide Receiver was well backed when running out a very easy winner over a shorter trip here earlier in the month. His stable continues in excellent form and the eight-year-old will have no problem with today's extra distance, but a 20lb higher mark complicates matters and he may not get his own way out in front today. Dawn Ride is a standing dish over this C&D and has place claims again, while Martin Todhunter's pair Allanard and Patriot have both won at the track in the past. NGONG HILLS won this three years ago and looked to be running into form when third at Carlisle earlier this month. Chris Grant's 10-year-old gets a tentative vote, though it would be no surprise to see Monsieur Jourdain win more races this winter.
