With the mighty Upham Lord not running, connections of Celtic Duke have every reason to be confident of landing the Gerrard Ladies Open at the expense of Prince Of Saints and Balisteros. Celtic Duke, formerly a useful inmate with Micky Hammond, has been in fine fettle for his current yard, and coped admirably with Fakenham's sharp circuit when successful two weeks ago. The veteran jumped superbly to beat his stablemate Millenium Way and that will have put him spot on for this. Zoe Turner, on board last time, gets the leg up again as he bids to repel the challenge of Prince Of Saints who has been busy between the flags but has not jumped a regulation obstacle for over two years. Balisteros gained his last win over fences three years ago but is a force to be reckoned with in point-to-points and gets on well with Jill force so should make things a bit more interesting without being up to the task of beating Celtic Duke on these terms.
