      In depth

      Verdict

Wolds Way gets the nod here but Hiddensee and Great Quest rate as dangers, particularly if the market speaks in favour of the former. Wolds Way has shown promise in each of his last two starts and it could be that the less-testing conditions he will face today will show him in an even better light. Once again, there is not too much strength to this race. Gold Gun showed something behind Sharp Reply last time, and the form could have been given a boost by now by that horse in the previous race on the card. Great Quest disappointed on his hurdling debut but that was on heavy going and, a two-mile winner in Ireland under quicker conditions last season, a much better run would not be a surprise today. French import Helvetio should be watched in the betting, while Hiddensee is an 83-rated 15-furlong Flat winner from last June and must be given some thought. Maybe the betting will provide some clues. Kingsbury's Carlisle second last time only rates in the 90's but that might be good enough to secure some money today, while Oops and Star Of The Desert have shown some evidence of ability. Once again, then, the vote goes to Wolds Way, although watch out for Hiddensee in the betting.
