A keen entry for this race but Young Scotton, Blackergreen and Classic Capers are among the more likelier winners and we will side with the first named. Howard Johnson's dominance in the North has been something of a revelation in recent times and Young Scotton, who finished second in the Aintree Champion bumper looks potentially to be a very useful recruit to the hurdling game. He had won two races prior to his Aintree run in good style and connections will be hopeful of getting off the mark on this occasion. Blackergreen was not quite so highly tried in two bumpers but Keith Reveley's string are in form and given his mother's decent record at this track, this horse looks sure to run a promising introduction. Classic Capers has the benefit of racefitness having ran in ground that was possibly too soft for him. He's better than that bare form and should have come on for the run. Gay Oscar hails from an unfashionable yard and can be given a chance here on a beating of Rouge Et Noir in a Southwell bumper last term. High Rank is the benchmark for this race from a formbook perspective. Plenty of winners to come from this one and Young Scotton gets our selection.
