Maggie Mathias can take this opportunity to get off the mark over hurdles, while Tambourine Ridge may well emerge as the danger. The Brendan Powell-trained selection has previously won on heavy ground in bumper company and has not been far away over hurdles at Towcester and Exeter on her last two starts. This trip should be ideal for the six-year-old and Mick Fitzgerald partners her again, which is a plus. Tambourine Ridge made a pleasing debut when runner up on good to soft at Towcester at the beginning of the month and will surely improve for that, so she is very much respected if handling this softer surface. Poker Queen has shown some promise without ever getting close than on debut in a Folkestone bumper and although Carl Llewellyn's charge would not be a huge shock winner it would raise some eyebrows on what we have seen so far. Kingfisher Niamh has been winning points but comes here after a lengthy break and has a bit to prove, and Gandy Dancer may well be a better proposition if handling this surface. Lots of imponderables then and Maggie Mathias is taken to get it right this time.
