Verdict

Overstrand stands out off the page here on his chasing debut and is nominated to beat Presenting Copper and William Bonney. The selection has been contesting grade one and two hurdles in the past season and is rated 145, well clear of his rivals here, over hurdles. Cut in the ground suits him, as does this trip, and with a clear round he will take all the beating. Presenting Copper could prove to be the danger. Philip Hobbs' charge won a Tipperary bumper on soft ground a couple of years ago and so he acts on the surface and put a chasing debut fall behind him to run well when second at Ludlow last time. With improvement to come he is respected. William Bonney is rated 21lbs below the selection over hurdles but he does act with cut in the ground and there is no reason why he can't improve over fences coming from a yard going well. Malakiya is suited by cut and this trip and his yard came back with a winner recently after a period in the wilderness, so he is not totally ruled out but they all have plenty to find with Overstrand, who gets the vote.
