Verdict
The track may not be ideal but PICKWICK looks the best of a trio that includes Surface Tension and Marywell. Sir Michael Stoute's colt ran too badly to be true at Kempton last time out and is better judged on a promising debut at Leicester. He should relish this ground and looks worth another chance. Surface Tension is another who disappointed at cramped odds last time out but he has been given a break since that Newmarket run and this Galileo colt is respected. As is the 87-rated Selkirk filly Marywell. Her Doncaster conqueror has gone on to good things since and she is another whose pedigree suggests she will cope with the ground today. It is hard to muster to much enthusiasm for anything else in the race, although if one of that trio flops then the final place might go to one of either Ahaazeeg or Aneel who can both improve on just modest debut efforts.
