Verdict

WILLIAM HOGARTH is selected with Peace Corps and Taste The Wine on the shortlist. Keith Goldsworthy's charge missed the Cheltenham Festival but this engagement is somewhat easier than the novice prizes there and were he to run up to his mark, he sets a very stiff standard indeed. Peace Corps is respected as a rare James Fanshawe runner under the winter code. He won readily at Wolverhampton though may not quite be as good as that BHA rating indicates. Taste The Wine was predictably outclassed in Grade 2 company last time out though should appreciate this drop in class. Mega Watt rated in the mid-70's on the flat for Willie Jarvis. After an encouraging debut, his last two runs were nothing to write home about. Hilfiger was a three timer winner on the flat in Germany. His better form was on a softer surface so it remains to be seen as to what we can anticipate here. Graylyn Ruby won three times on the flat in this country and represents the resurgent yard of Robin Dickin. William Hogarth appears to have plenty in his favour this afternoon and he should be able to account for the relative newcomers.
