Verdict

KALASHNIKOV, just beaten in the Supreme Novices’ in March, will be a short price to make a winning start over the larger obstacles facing only three rivals. Amy Murphy’s stable star has reportedly schooled well over fences and could take high rank among this season’s novices. Huntsman Son was no slouch over timber last season, winning twice. He has point-to-point experience so should make a race of it with the selection. Lisdoonvarna Lad and Scorpion Sid are other promising types and should be worth following this season, whatever happens today.
