This is a significant ease in grade for Morzine, who is fancied to hold too many guns for Give Me The Night and Lake Hero. There may also be a bit more to come from Becktara, who at least has the experience of racing around a bend to draw from. It is interesting to note that his connections are persevering with him over six furlongs and, from what looks a fair mark, he can go well for each-way punters. However, Lake Hero appears to the better of the two Kevin Ryan-trained runners judged on what they have shown so far. This daughter of Arkadian Hero is a possible for the big sales race at Newmarket later in the month and will need to take a race like this in her stride if she is to be considered as a serious candidate. A solid move for her in the betting ring will be dangerous to ignore. Give Me The Night has already paid her way this term with a couple of victories over the minimum distance on turf and the all weather. She is obviously respected and can make this a good test. However, she does like to race with the pace and may just help set things up for a proven performer over the trip. Which is exactly what she will face in Morzine, who has faced some stiff tests since she bolted up in a novices' stakes at Haydock on her debut. This is a much easier option for this Cheveley Park entry and it will be very surprising if Morzine does not have a bit more up her sleeve when they bear down on the line.
