Just Kate looks the one to be on here ahead of Miss Quickly, Firstflor, Astral Affair and possibly Zaffre. The selection showed plenty of promise on her racing debut when third at Worcester in June, a repeat of which should see her go close in a race that lacks strength in depth. The booking of Richard Johnson is also a huge plus point. Miss Quickly hails from the Henrietta Knight yard and, being by Anshan out of a Shardari mare, ought to have some speed about her. Firstflor won a farcically-run three-runner bumper at Towcester 18 days ago and, while that victory is a little hard to assess, it would be no surprise to see her go well again. Despite a slipping saddle, Irish import Astral Affair showed plenty of promise on her first run in this country behind a runner of Paul Nicholls at Chepstow. Freydis is well-bred for this game and hinted at some promise on her debut. By Mtoto out of a Sadler's Wells mare, Zaffre certainly catches the eye on breeding and might be one to watch in the betting. Mounts Bay showed some promise too on her debut but ran modestly next time. It's difficult to make a case for any of the others so, unless the betting suggests radically otherwise, we'll go for Just Kate.
