WHIPMA WHOPMA GATE arrives here in good form can hold all-comers; Having A Ball and Fitz are others with solid claims, while Machinate has won at this level in the past and can go well at a fair price for each-way punters. The Crankies were still popular the last time Machinate won on turf, though. Fitz on the other hand does have a bit more scope than most and, with the ground in his favour; the mount of Kieren Fox can be a player in this company. Considering that Having A Ball is rated 13lb higher on the all-weather, the Peter Cundell-trained gelding obviously has a better record on an artificial surface. However, this is a very weak race and, with Amy Scott being one of the more capable lady apprentices; the six-year-old is no forlorn hope to make the frame today. Nevertheless, preference is for Whipma Whopma Gate, who ran a blinder at Thirsk a fortnight ago. The mare seems to be holding her form at present and, as she has the more proven record on turf, Whipma Whopma Gate is fancied to be streets ahead today.
