In depth

Verdict

An average event and one in which Spokesman might get the better of King Plato. The selection showed promise on his first run in this country after winning two bumpers and a hurdle in Ireland. He has disappointed in two runs since but clearly comes into the reckoning if coming back to form. King Plato is 13lbs-higher in the weights than for the second of his two wins in August, but does go on soft ground. Venn Ottery hasn't really progressed as expected and has yet to win a race, while Polish Pilot has been well beaten since his Market Rasen win in May. Father Mulcahy won a poor novice event at Haydock three runs ago but is still a couple of pounds wrong in the weights, which at least is 13lbs less than Cyanara in this respect. Not a strong race by any stretch of the imagination and it might just pay to side with Jonjo O'Neill and Spokesman.
