    In depth

    Verdict

Call Oscar fulfilled his debut promise over course and distance when successful at Stratford last month and is taken to confirm his superiority there over Ice Bucket, with Kayceecee probably the pick of the remainder. It is never easy for horses under penalties in bumpers but the selection looked a decent sort at Stratford and is taken to give weight away all round in a potentially informative contest. Alan King's Kobai is possibly the pick of the newcomers being a Florida Son half-brother to a winning chaser although Paul Webber has a good record in these races so his runner Off Spin should be noted, particularly if the market speaks in his favour. Henry Daly's trio of Haunted House, Thievery and Kayceecee all showed promise first time out and have to be respected with marginal preference for the last mentioned, who looks to be the pick of the three judged by jockey bookings but Call Oscar created a favourable impression at Stratford and is taken to follow up.
