In depth

Verdict

Mr Rooney, Lord Jack Flash and Ace Baby are three against the field in this competitive event to open the card and the vote is given to Mr Rooney. The selection was a beaten favourite on his debut but he put that effort behind him when beating Bow Bridge at Beverley last time and with conditions to suit and his yard in decent form he looks the one to beat. Lord Jack Flash has gone well in both his runs to date and is the type that will win his fair share of races, but this looks his toughest assignment so far and he will have to improve to score. Ace Baby was slowly away at Newcastle last time, but he had previously won well at Nottingham and he has got obvious claims. However, connections think he will be better over slightly further in time and all his runs so far have been on soft ground. Ooh Aah Camara won well over this course and distance last time and she is another that is clearly going the right way, but Mr Rooney sets a fair benchmark for the rest here and is taken to score.
