In a contest where there is little solid form to work on, a chance is taken that the newcomer, RHUM, will be good enough to see off Flexi Time and Good For Blue. The last named was sent off an unconsidered outsider at Haydock recently on his debut, and despite running very green and even throwing in the odd buck, he still found time to stay on for third. That outing will have been an education for him, and improvement can be expected. Flexi Time was attempting to shrug off a penalty for a previous fortunate course and distance success when run out of it in the closing stages last time. Another bold showing is expected but he looks vulnerable under his penalty. Rhum hails from the Nigel Twiston-Davies camp and although the trainer's two recent entries in bumpers have disappointed when fancied, he may be capable of making a winning debut. He is a half brother to a useful winning hurdler in France, out of a winning mare. Any market confidence should be noted, and Rhum is a sporting selection to land the finale.
