In depth

Verdict

Cruise Leader lines up in search of a hat-trick and can is taken to score at the expense of Asparagus, Mr Dow Jones and Lisaan. Chris Grant's Cruise Leader will be a popular choice on the final race on the card after his back-to-back successes at Wetherby this season. They came after his rather unlucky chase debut at Kelso where he was going well when coming to grief behind Royal Emperor, and there is every reason to believe that he is well capable of another rise in the weights. Tony McCoy rides Mr Dow Jones, an out-and-out stayer who emphasised that fact by finishing second in Warwick's Crudwell Cup. The drop back in trip is not certain to suit him but the 12-year-old is a tough sort. Asparagus never looked like winning at Wetherby last time and is probably too high in the weights at present, while Irish raider Lisaan is not really proficient over this trip, having tried a distance of ground for the first time last month at Punchestown. He seemed to stay though and is not one to entirely rule out based on his form over fences in the past. Cruise Leader has more to offer though and is the selection.
