This looks a decent novice for the time of year with Three Eagles making his debut for team Pipe, but the pair to concentrate on are Virgin Soldier and Papua, with the latter getting a narrow vote. There was little between him and Virgin Soldier on the flat where they were both rated in the low 90's at their best and also over timber where Papua won off a mark of 122,while Virgin Soldier was a winner off 119, so up until now there has been little between them. However, with the latter falling on his chasing debut, that may have upset him a little, so Papua, who has more experience than his main rival could just have the edge. Three Eagles, now in the care of Martin Pipe, having been with Denis Caro, will be a popular choice, but he was some way behind the principals over timber and will need to show plenty of improvement if he is to shake them up. Doigts D'Or has been a little disappointing over fences so far, but he has only encountered a soft surface over the larger obstacles to date, so it is possible this faster ground will suit him better, but Papua was a better horse over hurdles and he should confirm his superiority in this.
