made all, clear 3 out, easily
behind, kept on to take poor 3rd flat, never dangerous
prominent, ridden to go 2nd 3 out, no chance with winner
tracked leaders, ridden approaching 4 out, soon weakened
close up, joined leader when blundered and unseated rider 5th
tracked leaders, left 2nd 5th, ridden 4 out, weakened next
in touch, ridden 7th, pecked and weakened 8th
always behind, tailed off and blundered 3 out, soon pulled up
Ceresfield sets the standard, albeit not a very high one and it will be something of a surprise if she is good enough to give the weight away to the likes of Amptina and Iro Origny, and although the we are taking a chance with the latter, who has refused to start on more than one occasion, there is no doubt he is well treated on the form he showed as a four-year-old over fences in France. Amptina got off the mark over fences at Bangor last month, before disappointing at Southwell, on rain-softened ground. It could be that he needs a sounder surface to show his best. Thalys is held on the book by both Sturm Un Drang and Amptina, but Heather Dalton's charge is much better than he has shown in his two outings to date over fences and it would be no surprise to see him go close. How Ran On is a sound jumper and can be guaranteed to take these along at a fair clip, but if Iro Origny consents to jump off, he could well prove to be a blot on the handicap.
