None of those to have run over timber looks anything special and while Maunby Rocker is respected, especially as he hails from the stable who took this event last year, preference is for Charlie Mann's Macmillan, who showed some promise on the level in the spring. Runner-up to Cara Fantasy in a maiden at Leicester, he then went to Newmarket where he did himself no favours by pulling far too hard. It is something of a surprise he didn't manage to get his head in front on the flat, but he is a fine, rangy sort, who should do well at this game. Maunby Rocker is sure to be sharper for his effort at Cartmel, his first run for six-months, but he was inferior to the selection on the flat. Sunray already has plenty of experience under his belt, despite the season only being underway for just over a month. He was behind a stablemate of Maunby Rocker at Bangor last month, so the Haslam stable will know where they stand with him. Magic Red is a huge gelding who should do well over timber. Runner-up to Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Indian Haven as a juvenile, he clearly has some ability, but Macmillan was the best of these on the flat, and he is taken to make a winning debut over timber.
