Verdict

ALWAYS BOLD is the form pick to win again, while both Blazing Desert and Thedeboftheyear are worthy of respect. The selection had been knocking on the door before he finally got his head in front at Wetherby last month, which was a much deserved win as he had looked a shade unlucky in his previous outings. He still looks like he is improving so, if reproducing his recent form, he has every chance of defying his penalty. Blazing Desert won well at Fontwell on his penultimate run in March but disappointed on a soft surface at Bangor thereafter. Whether or not the ground was an excuse that day he does deserve another chance and any support in the market should be noted now he is running on better ground. Thedeboftheyear won well when stepped up in trip at Exeter last time out. She can pull hard in her races but she has proved she stays so has to be added to the short list. Trainer Donald McCain has his team of horses in fine form at present and Always Bold is given the vote to add to his winning tally.
