Translucid has been found a suitable opportunity and with Tony McCoy on board, should make a bold bid, with I Hear Thunder, Up The Glen and Kaid expected to perform well. Translucid was the best of these over hurdles by a long way, and has taken on good company since going fencing. He made his debut over the bigger obstacles behind Thisthatandtother in the Henry VIII Novices chase at Sandown in December and since then has continued to be fairly highly tried. The six-year-old is probably not as good as connections had first hoped but has had his sights considerably lowered here and should prevail under the champion who has ridden him to victory, albeit over hurdles, in the past. He has more scope than Kaid who has disappointed over the past few seasons, but I Hear Thunder is having only his second outing over fences and may have more to offer. Up The Glen has shown bits and pieces of promise but at the age of ten, does not appeal as one to follow, while Brad comes from a stable that bring them along steadily with jumping in mind, so he should be found a suitable opportunity in future. For now though they all face a hard task in stopping Translucid who gets a confident vote.
