Golly gets a tentative vote in the finale, with Young Tot, End of An Error and The Hairy Lemon just a few potential threats. This race for amateur riders looks wide-open, but Lucy Horner is a decent enough rider, and her presence on board Golly bodes well for his chance here. The nine-year-old was considered practically unridable in his days with Mark Pitman, but has settled down a lot since joining Dai Williams, and has won twice for the stable. His last two outings have been in the French provinces, the latest of which saw him beaten in a photo with today's pilot on board. The suspicion is that he prefers faster ground so any rain would not be welcome, but other than that he has a good chance. Young Tot made every yard of the running on his first start for Matt Sheppard here three weeks ago, beating rivals rated 10lbs superior, so there should be improvement to come and he is one for the short-list. End of An Error needs to put a below-par effort at Haydock behind him to figure, while The Hairy Lemon has some fair placed form but might need the run. The market will indicate if any of the others are fancied, but we are happy to stick with Golly.
